Why is it important to test drive a car

July 20, 2021 By Rokkit

We at CMH Peugeot know that purchasing your next set of wheels is a big step for anyone. It could be your first vehicle, or it could be your tenth, either way, there are many factors to consider and a lot of information to take in before making that final decision. Whether you are buying a brand-new vehicle or a pre-owned vehicle, one of the steps you need to take in this process is test driving your vehicle of choice.

Test Drive your car

  1. It allows you to see if you are comfortable in the car – once you get in, prior to driving, do a checklist with yourself, are the seats comfortable? Are all controls placed in positions that are suitable to you? Is the visibility to your comfort level? Is it spacious enough? Answering questions like these will help you decide whether you should continue with the process or not.
  2. Drivability – purchasing a new vehicle means that you will most likely spend a lot of time driving this vehicle, going on a test drive will help you see if the handling is perfect for you, are you comfortable manoeuvring around different areas and is the size of the vehicle ideal for you when it comes to parking as well.
  3. Test Drive Peugeot on the road

  4. Sounds – Pay close attention when going on your test drive – this will allow you to come across any sounds that may not be right or that may raise some concern.
  5. Test the vehicle – Take the time to also test out your indicators, brake lights, fog lights, hazards, radio, aircon, electric windows and any other controls that the vehicle may have.
  6. Interior

  7. If you are highly interested in the vehicle, your test drive should last a minimum of 15 minutes, this will give you ample time to have driven around different roads, checked the visibility, tested controls, your comfort in the vehicle as well as hearing for any unwanted sounds.

One of the best ways to make certain you are buying the right vehicle is also to have a trusted friend or relative test drive the vehicle for you, they may pick up on specific things that you may not have noticed.

After your test drive, if you decide to proceed, you will be more at ease knowing the ins and outs of what you are getting, allowing you to be more confident in your purchase Visit us at CMH Peugeot Durban today at 115 Monty Naicker street or call us on 031 337 1251 to book your test drive.
